Audio Guide Transcript

Nestled in the heart of the Alpine region, between the towns of Ivrea and Chiaverano, lies Lake Sirio, once known as once known as Saint Joseph, after the convent that once stood on a hill overlooking its waters. It is one of five glacial lakes in the area but the only one fed by a natural spring

The surrounding area is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna typical of wetland habitats, including tree frogs, common frogs, mallards, and moorhens. The lake is surrounded by unspoiled greenery, offering a peaceful setting perfect for hiking or simply unwinding in nature.

A paved road circles the lake, making it ideal for walking – the whole loop takes about 40 minutes. If you want to explore further, quiet country roads lead to beautiful views and rich local biodiversity. In addition to woodlands and spontaneous vegetation around the lake, you’ll find gardens, orchards, meadows, and vegetable plots, where in summer it’s common to see tourists sunbathing and relaxing outdoors.

Lake Sirio is also a popular swimming destination. In the summer, the free-access beach becomes a peaceful retreat for those looking to escape the city and enjoy calm waters. The lakeside area known as Marina di Ivrea offers tourist resorts, hotels, restaurants, farm stays, tennis and five-a-side football courts, a campsite, and a parking area—everything visitors might need.

You’ll find Chalet Mòia along the shoreline, a charming lakeside spot with a bar and a great selection of light lunches – perfect for a laid-back day by the water. Continuing your walk, you’ll reach La Piatta, a floating platform beloved by visitors and ideal for sunbathing.

Lake Sirio is Located about 50 kilometers from Turin and is the perfect summer escape. It combines nature, outdoor fun, and relaxation in a stunning natural setting.
